New advancements and product developments in the flooring industry are having a significant impact on the safety and sustainability of the construction industry.

One of SA’s largest importers and wholesalers of wood flooring products and systems, Traviata, is the exclusive distributor of a waterproof flooring system that has, since its launch two years ago, been installed in more than 250 000 homes and commercial spaces across the globe.

The company says FirmFit’s luxury vinyl tile range is ideal for SA’s intense UV rays because its limestone-based core is resistant to heat and sunlight. In addition, it is 100% waterproof, so it can be installed in conservatories – even those with large windows and no climate control.

Qualifying for credits under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification system and featuring an anti-bacterial surface treatment that protects against 99% of harmful fungi and bacteria, FirmFit is also Greenguard Gold certified, 100% recyclable and free of ortho-phthalates. It needs minimal sub-floor preparation and no acclimatisation. In addition, expansion gaps in areas up to 400 m² are not required, making it easy to install.
