Omake House took top honours in the Green Building Council of South Africa’s 2017 Green Star Leadership awards. With an impressive 6-star Green Star rating for existing building performance v1, it was lauded as the highest-rated building of 2017.

As the offices of engineering firm SCE, Omake House in Windhoek, Namibia, was designed and built according to sustainability principles that are seeing the building use less energy and offer higher occupant satisfaction.

Of particular note is its integrated solar plant (50 kWp), which is capable of exporting an average of 6 500 kWh back into the grid, earning it net positive energy use status. The structure also boasts reduced heat load and heat gain through solar radiation due to its orientation, as well as a high energy-efficient HVAC system.

The Omake House project was developed by FAH Properties with Stauch & Partners architects and SCE itself serving as the engineer across all disciplines.
